Bettina Kessaris – Redesigner living & working in the South Bay.
I am an Interior Redesigner and member of IRIS (Interior Redesign Industry Specialists).
I specialize in “Redesigns”, Redesign to sell (Staging) and Lighting Design consultation.
I am well-versed in European Design as I was born in Denmark and have lived and worked in Europe most of my life. My experiences in Denmark, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland and London have built on my Scandinavian Design roots and have given me a broad outlook and expertise.

I began my career in Lighting Design, having worked for General Electric Lighting for 6 years as European Group Product Manager. My work included developing new and innovative light sources and collaborating with Lamp (fixture) manufacturers in developing their new products.

While living in Italy I designed and exported glass accessories to Scandinavia, Germany, Japan, the US and the United Kingdom. I worked with Italian glass suppliers and have a network of manufacturers of handmade glass work ranging from lamps to accessories such as vases, bowls and glasses.

WHAT IS REDESIGN?
Redesign is a relatively new concept within interior design. To redesign a room is to optimize the functional use of your space based on your needs and to enhance its aesthetic appeal. It might be that one room has more than one function (for instance family room & office). During the intial consultation the redesigner will work with you to understand your priorities for the room and what you see as the obstacles to using it optimally. Then we will schedule a date for the redesign to be done. I will redesign the room while mainly using your existing furniture and accessories. The objective is to achieve a transformation of your space without remodeling and significant expense. For many projects, this can be achieved in just one day. However, if you wish to have furniture reupholstered or want to add new furniture, lighting or accessories I can assist you in selecting these items in order to make them work with your existing decor.

As a Redesigner I take on many different types of projects and at different budgets. Most projects are done on a room by room basis.

A: Redesign Consultation – an Initial Redesign Consultation to access what your needs are. I will see, listen and then ask you some questions to understand what you needs, taste and preferences you have. This can be followed up by a floor plan presentation.

B: Home Redesign – One Day One Room Redesign
This service offers a new look in one day at an affordable price by using existing furniture and mainly existing accessories and art. The service requires that you book an initial consultation in which we discuss your needs, use of the room(s) and style preferences. On the day of the redesign you will need to leave your home for the day, and we agree a time you to return for the reveal of the redesigned room or home. Factors I will consider include your lifestyle as well as color, balance, use of textures, and space management. Based on your briefing, I can also shop for a few new accessories or perhaps some new lighting. This is a relatively inexpensive and fast way to get a fresh new look which works for your taste and needs.

E: New Home move-in / furniture placement service
You might be relocating to the South Bay, simply moving into a new home, maybe increasing your living space or down sizing. Any move is a lot of work and very time and energy consuming. I can assist you with placing your furniture, putting up art, placing accessories and getting organized. The service can be done on a room by room basis – try one room and decide if further design assistance is needed or get a fixed price for your complete home.

F: Art and Accessory placement
Grouping and hanging art in a way that maximizes its contribution to your home can be frustrating and time consuming. So why not treat yourself to some help? Further, finding additional accessories for a particular taste or theme and placing them just right can be challenging and costly. I know where to go and how to do it.

G: Furniture and accessories shopping
I can assist you in choosing the right furniture for a particular room in your house while taking into account the functions of the room, your needs and taste. Another service I provide is shopping for lamps and accessories which I make sure are returnable and 100% refundable should you decide that some of the accessories are not for you. I will take great care in understanding your views and tastes as well as the room measurements to ensure that the furniture and other items will work optimally in your space.

H: Gift Certificates - $ 100 Redesign session
I offer Gift Certificates which you can give to a family member or friend. A special offer is the Initial Redesign Consultation Gift Certificate for only $100. A One Day One Room Redesign Gift Certificate is also available for $500 including an initial consultation, a one day one room redesign and recommendations for a few new accessories.
